A Folly Beach Pet Photography Session to Remember

When I first spoke with Courtney about her vision for this photo session, I knew it would be special. She wanted to capture beautiful memories on Folly Beach with her beloved dog, Costa — a Shih Tzu Pomeranian mix who’s been by her side through every chapter of her Charleston story. Now, Courtney is moving out of town, and Costa is getting along in her years. This session was more than just a pretty beach walk with a camera. It was a celebration of their time together, a love letter to a pup who helped make Charleston feel like home.

Celebrating the close of a chapter on Folly Beach, SC

Folly Beach is one of my favorite places for lifestyle pet photography in Charleston, and it couldn’t have been a more fitting location for this pair. We timed the session for golden hour, when the light is soft and warm and the beach starts to quiet down. Courtney and Costa walked along the shore, played in the surf, and sat together in the dunes, soaking in every moment.

There was something so tender about watching Costa perk up when Courtney spoke to her. Her face may be grayer now, but her playfulness and affection shine brighter than ever.

Pet photography in Charleston isn’t just about cute portraits (though we absolutely got those!). It’s about documenting the deep connections we share with our animals — the ones who’ve seen us through milestones, moves, and everything in between. That’s why it’s so important to work with a Folly Beach family photographer who makes you feel comfortable and relaxed at your session.

Courtney said it best:

“Amy has such a gift and is so talented behind the camera. I’d never had a photo shoot before, and Amy made the entire process so effortless and comfortable. From the pre-planning call, to the finest details with my prints, Amy runs a fantastic small business. The pictures are stunning, once-in-a-lifetime keepsakes that I know I’ll cherish forever.”

Creating Cherished Keepsake Artwork

After the session, Courtney chose a handcrafted album to preserve this chapter of her life. These images won’t just live on a screen — they’ll be a daily reminder of the joy, love, and memories that Costa brought to her days in Charleston.

If you’ve been thinking about a pet photography session in Charleston — whether it’s a celebration, a goodbye, or simply everyday life — I’d be honored to help you document your story.
