Editorial-Style Engagement Session in the Heart of the Holy City

Documenting new love in historic downtown Charleston

When Grace and Caleb asked me to capture their love story in downtown Charleston, I was truly ecstatic. Both had recently relocated to the Holy City for work when they met and quickly fell heads over heels. Grace and Caleb spent many of their dates exploring their new home together, often wandering down these historic streets to find new-to-them delights.

For them, I knew it would be important to showcase not just their love for each other but also the rich history and charm of the Holy City. Having lived in downtown Charleston for several years, I’m well acquainted with the labyrinth of hidden alleyways South of Broad. I decided to recommend locations that would both resonate with their sense of adventure and be reminiscent of their early dates spent discovering these ancient paths together.

With this in mind, I carefully mapped out a route to the best spots in Charleston for iconic engagement photos, from cobblestoned Chalmers Street to secret courtyards brimming with southern charm. Each backdrop became a thread in their visual narrative, weaving together their passion with the city's timeless beauty. Wandering down historic paths, their laughter and joyful whimsy filled the air. I captured moments that were as genuine as they were breathtaking.

With this blend of thoughtful planning and spontaneous discovery, the resulting collection of images not only captured the couple's newfound love for each other but also showcased the elegance and charm of the Holy City.
